Rooftops and Good Music

Athens, Georgia has always been a popular city for music. From R.E.M. to Widespread Panic, several of the United States' most popular bands have come out of the city. Because of this, Athens has become a popular destination for bands traveling and on tour. Though venues are small and it is only a college town, artists continually return to the college town.

The Georgia Theatre is by far the most popular music venue in Athens. As the venue has both the rooftop and the indoor theatre, guests have many places to listen to music and enjoy themselves. Not only is it the best place for artists to play but also is a popular place among Athens residents, college students, and those visiting the college town.

For college students, Instagram is one of the largest platforms of social media. For me and most of my friends, I believe that this is the best way to reach us as a target audience. The Georgia Theatre has a good following via this channel as evidenced below:

The Georgia Theatre has a wide range of people included in their target audience. Because they host many different kinds of artists who specialize in different genres, they must be able to attract many different fans. These could be adults who love jazz music, students who love rap music, or both who love classic rock. This requires great awareness of many kinds of people. Additionally, the person in charge of their social media accounts needs to be careful when posting because of how many people follow them. The venue must also be able to attract many different kinds of artists which takes the same skills.

Marketing to such a wide range can be very difficult, however venues as popular as the historical Georgia Theatre don't seem to have a problem attracting fans or keeping revenues high. As a popular bar and concert venue, the theatre is very successful in how they market themselves and the bands that play there.
